Per a recent report on bipolar disorder published this month in Science Daily Magazine a tendency to extreme moods can have significant benefits as well as sometimes leading to problems.
Many people who have been reported as having the diagnosis are also extremely creative and successful individuals. Examples include government press advisor Alistair Campbell, actress Carrie Fisher, actor Stephen Fry, comedian Paul Merton, and television presenters Gail Porter and Bill Oddie.
The report also suggests that these mood swings are more extreme forms of the variations we all experience and can result from life events rather than just brain chemistry.
Bipolar disorder is Bipolar disorder (also known as manic depression) causes serious shifts in mood, energy, thinking, and behavior from the highs of mania on one extreme, to the lows of depression on the other. More than just a fleeting good or bad mood, the cycles of bipolar disorder last for days, weeks, or months.
